NGC 1746 is another galactic star cluster, not to be confused with the nearby NGC 1647 - they probably get each other's mail all the time, with similar addresses like that. The appearance of this cluster is a bit different from its neighbor - in 1647, there are many faint stars; 1746 has fewer and brighter members, with the balance being struck such that both clusters are similar in overall brightness. NGC 1746 can be found two-thirds of the way along the north horn of Taurus, between Epsilon Tauri in the Hyades and horn tip star El Nath.
