Step 1.
The vacuum back replacement rear door should match
the rear door of your Pentax 67 or 6x7 camera. Verify
this before attempting the following procedure.
The replacement door will have the vacuum port
protruding from the middle of the exterior
side. On the interior side, the only
noticeable difference from a standard back will
be the tiny air holes drilled in the pressure
plate.
|
Because of the vacuum modifications,
the pressure plate is permanently set in the
"220" position. Do not attempt to set it to
the "120" position.
Note that this procedure requires the handling of
very small screws. If you feel uncomfortable
with this procedure, have a camera repair
technician do the procedure for you.

Step 2.
To expose the hinge screws for replacement of
the camera cover, the vinyl grip material must
be peeled back.
With the camera lens and film removed, cover
closed, and body face down on a soft work
surface, begin to gradually tease the corner of
the grip material on the front, hinge side of
the camera body free, taking care not to
scratch the camera finish.
|
|
|
Step 3.
Continue to carefully (avoid creasing) peel
back the grip material until all 5 hinge screws
are accessible. Try to keep all residual
adhesive on the grip material, rather than the
hinge.
|
|
|
Step 4.
Remove the 5 exposed screws, unlatch the door,
and remove the old door. Then set the new door
in place and replace the 5 screws. Latch the
door shut before attempting to install the
screws. This will help to keep the door in
place assure proper alignment. Finally, replace
the lifted grip material to cover the hinge.
When using the camera remember that the film
length indicator (shown at arrow) must still be
set for the film type in use (120/220).
