As it is, moderate amateur telescopes will reveal an oval glow if skies are dark. To find NGC 7331, look northwest of square star Scheat (the only red star in the square). You might try hopping from Scheat to its fainter neighbor star Eta Pegasi, and then four and a half degrees farther. |

For the more adventuresome observer equipped with a larger telescope, the five fainter galaxies known as "Stephan's Quintet" lie just half a degree to the southwest of NGC 7331.
