M29 is a small star cluster, easy to find 1.7 degrees south south-east from the middle star of the cross, Gamma Cygni (Sadr). Telescopes show about a dozen stars in an area about one-fifth the apparent size of the moon; binoculars detect this object if your skies are pretty dark. M29 is located 7200 light years away, much farther than the bright stars of Cygnus.
