NGC 2371-72 is a so-called "planetary" nebula, a cloud
of gas ejected from a dying star. An oval glow of
magnitude 12.5 and about as large as Jupiter in your
telescope (30 x 50 arc seconds), NGC 2371-72 earned its
double name by seeming to be two separate objects.
These are in fact merely the brighter ends of a single
gas cloud. Dark skies are a must for this object, as
the surface brightness is quite low.
