Planet Town 4x5 format astrocamera systems
consist of a telescope adapter, camera body, film holder,
vacuum pump, and focusing and composing back.
The precision machined film holder coupled with vacuum flattening allows sharp astrophotos to be taken without the problems of film bowing, shifting, or loose film holder thickness tolerances commonly seen in commercial (non-astrophoto) 4x5 cameras. Planet Town film holders are machined to a tolerance of +/- 20 microns allowing for using multiple film holders without altering focuser calibration even when fast photographic systems are used. Adapters are available for Borg and Takahashi scopes as well as Pentax 67 lenses. This also allows coupling to any telescope with a Pentax 67 lens coupling (e.g. AP scopes).
