01-017 "Alpha Centauri: Lesser Sun"
2001, digital

On an imaginary planet in the nearest star system, Alpha Centauri, we see one huge difference from home - a second sun, orbiting about where Uranus would be in our solar system. This star circles its slightly larger companion every 80 years; both stars are similar to our own in color and brightness. Unlike a planet, Alpha-B puts out a brilliant light that ensures night never falls completely when it is visible. Only when the twin suns align will this world know the darkness we on Earth consider commonplace.
