00-023 "Tiger Shark"
2000, acrylic on bristol

The dreaded Tiger Shark is here seen sculling slowly through the tropical waters it terrorizes. Second only to the Great White in attacks on humans, the Tiger prefers warmer seas, and thus poses a substantial risk in tourist locations. Tiger sharks are named for their striped markings, which are more obvious in juveniles (as seen here). The largest Tigers can be every bit as large as the Great White, around 20 feet. Tigers are distinctly different in appearance than Great Whites, with a much longer upper tail, smaller dorsal fin, and blunt nose.
